Pictorial may be regarded as the basic, most general interest area. In the pictorial meetings, there are generally no restrictions as to subject matter – a wide range of subjects and treatments is expected and encouraged, including artistic, interpretive and documentary points of view covering landscape, portrait, fashion, abstract and journalistic photography. Meetings designated as pictorial operate using projected images, most of which now have initially been captured digitally, although some members continue to use slides. At least once per season, a pictorial meeting is reserved for a set of short presentations by members – members’ night – always a keenly anticipated event! Each fall and spring there are open and theme pictorial competitions.
